SOLUCIR brings circular and decentralised water solutions to ECOMONDO 2026

Circular water solutions took centre stage at ECOMONDO 2026, where SOLUCIR featured in discussions on water reuse, digital transformation and decentralised water management. The project was presented during the international conference “Water Resilience In and Beyond Europe: Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation, Innovation and Global Leadership”, held on 3 November 2026 at the Rimini Expo Centre, Italy.

The conference brought together researchers, institutions and industry representatives to explore how innovation, governance and international cooperation can strengthen water resilience across Europe and the Mediterranean region.

SOLUCIR contributed to the afternoon session “Scaling Circular Water Solutions: From Innovation to Climate Resilience”, which examined approaches to making water management more sustainable through circular and decentralised systems. The session provided an opportunity to introduce the project’s work and connect it with wider discussions on putting research into practice.

Project partner Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) and its WWEELab Research Group contributed to the organisation of the conference. Professor Francesco Fatone, WWEELab Coordinator and member of the Ecomondo Technical Scientific Committee, co-chaired the opening panel alongside Professor Evina Katsou of Imperial College London.

The programme also explored nature-based solutions, regional cooperation and water governance, with contributions from the CARDIMED, CSSBoost and Systemico projects. Together, these discussions highlighted complementary approaches to climate adaptation and circular water management.

SOLUCIR’s participation offered an opportunity to exchange knowledge with the wider water community, strengthen connections between research and industry, and raise awareness of the role decentralised solutions can play in building more resilient water systems.
