SOLUCIR releases its first project newsletter

The Horizon Europe project SOLUCIR – Solutions for Circular Water and Decentralisation has published its first newsletter, offering readers an introduction to the project, its objectives, demonstration activities and partnership.
Launched on 1 January 2026, SOLUCIR is a four-year European initiative working to accelerate the transition towards circular and decentralised water and wastewater management solutions. The project responds to growing pressures on conventional centralised water systems caused by urbanisation, climate change and increasing demands for more resilient and resource-efficient approaches.
The first newsletter introduces the project’s 24 Inspirational Pilots, which provide practical examples and knowledge on existing circular and decentralised water solutions across Europe. Insights from these cases will contribute to the development of the SOLUCIR Smart Insights Hub, a publicly accessible digital knowledge base supported by technologies including Natural Language Processing and Knowledge Graphs.
Readers can also discover SOLUCIR’s upcoming Pathfinding Studies, including five European studies and a transferability study in Africa, which will explore the scalability and real-world application of innovative solutions in collaboration with utilities and local stakeholders.
The newsletter also introduces the SOLUCIR consortium, coordinated by the Urban Water Management and Hydroinformatics Group of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and bringing together 15 beneficiaries from research, academia, water authorities and technology providers.
